The fifth sign of the zodiac is Leo. Those born between the dates of July 23rd and August 22nd have this as their sun sign. It is symbolized by the Lion because of the regal nature that is typical of the animal and the people born under this sign.
The Leo is the king of the human jungle. Their magnetic, good nature draws in friends and can even bring followers. This is not a wallflower. Ambitious, dominant, forceful and determined the Leo makes a great leader. Their magnetism makes it easy for them to convince others that their point or way is the correct one. They are good at organization, direct and outspoken in a way that doesn't upset anyone.

The Leo likes to have attention on them especially in the forms of admiration and recognition. They are the star of the show and it is a dramatic show indeed. They have a great deal of emotional energy and think fairly highly of themselves- though they are still susceptible to flattery. Power, glamour and fun will draw a Leo into any situation. Ego is both their strength and weakness.

Leos excel at the arts- especially on the stage- but also make good teachers. Strongly bonded to children, the Leo is protective and nurturing. But teaching may not appeal to the Leos love of action and drama. Center stage is the only part of the stage that matters to these people.

Leos are desperately idealistic and romantic, though they might try to hide behind cynicism (they are actors, after all). The Lions see things in black and white and gray complexities confuse and wound them. It seems like those who understand the gray area are playing a game to which the Leo doesn't know the rules and they don't like being left out. This extends to their relationships, when the punctures to their ideals can send the Leo retreating to their throne.

Leos also don't understand petty or ambiguous behavior or nastiness. Those aspects may exist in the Lion but they do an honorable job of keeping them in check. Honor and loyalty are the things they value most in relationships. But unfortunately those things can be hard to find.
Leos worship the concept of love. They are romantic and generous with gifts that are exotic and expensive. The Lion prefers to give than receive but a negative reaction to the present would crush them. They can make a relationship seem special and magical. Though they like attention from others, the Leo is far too loyal to stray. If they love a person, they would move the heavens and earth for them. If their partner betrays them, it will rarely be forgiven. Their heart is idealistic and naive and the hurt from such an act will wound their dignified sense of self. The Leo needs loyalty and to be treated like royalty. In return for this, they will fight for their partner through any battle, make sacrifices and offer up total support. In the name of love, they can give up anything without regret.
